2024 Wrapped: Zapper's year in review

This past year has been action-packed at Zapper, filled with milestones, exciting innovations, and feel-good moments. To our Zapper consumers, merchants, and partners – thank you for being part of our journey. From brand-new features that make life simpler to impactful partnerships and community-driven initiatives, 2024 has been a year to celebrate.

New features

We introduced game-changing features in 2024, designed to bring you more value and convenience. Keep your eyes peeled for next year, as we have even more lekker things to come!

💳 My Cards

We ended the year on a high by launching the “My Cards” feature. You can now upload all your digital loyalty, rewards, and membership cards to the Zapper app for quick and easy access.

To celebrate this, we’re making this summer even more rewarding: every week, four lucky winners will each get a ZapCash voucher worth R250 just for uploading one of your cards! Each card uploaded equals one entry. Terms and conditions apply.

🎁 Purchasable vouchers

From ZapCash to OTT and Flash, this year we introduced purchasable vouchers with no fees. You can now use vouchers to buy airtime, shop at retailers like Hi-Fi Corporation and One Day Only, pay at Netcare and Discovery, fuel up, and more. The possibilities are endless. 

💸 Luno crypto payments

Zapper went crypto! Through our partnership with Luno, you can now spend your cryptocurrency at over 31,000 Zapper merchants nationwide, including Dis-Chem, FlySafair, fuel stations, schools, and parking facilities. 

💰 RCS card payments

Seamless payments got even easier with the ability to link your RCS card to Zapper. Another win for smooth transactions!

🚗 Cashless parking

We expanded our cashless parking solutions, adding 30 new sites this year. Now you can easily scan your parking tickets and pay through Zapper at more places– no cash or queues required. 

📱 ZapConnect

This year saw the launch of ZapConnect, our marketing SuperTool for businesses. Merchants are already reaping the benefits, with more customers through their doors and measurable growth.

Plus, more vouchers are now available in the app, helping you discover and support businesses in your area.

🛎️ Order Ahead

Ultimate convenience is here with Order Ahead. Place your orders in advance, choose between click-and-collect or delivery, track your order live, and enjoy reduced wait times. Businesses are also enjoying increased efficiency with this seamless feature. 

🛒 BoxCommerce and Ayoba integration

Our partnership with BoxCommerce and Ayoba Marketplace empowers businesses to quickly create online stores and accept Zapper payments seamlessly, driving sales and expanding their reach in the digital marketplace. 

🚀 Supplier Capital

We also introduced Supplier Capital, helping businesses manage stock stress-free. Zapper pays your supplier directly, delivers the stock, and businesses can repay us as they trade – an added boost alongside Quick Capital. 

Feel-good moments

⛳ Reach for a Dream Golf and Slipper Day

A cause close to our hearts at Zapper. This year, we digitised stickers for the first time ever to make participation easier and more impactful. We also sponsored a golf day to help raise funds for these children with life-threatening illnesses, helping them fulfil their dreams. 

💙 Mr Price Foundation – Hope4Youth

We recently partnered with the Mr Price Foundation to support the Hope4Youth program. By donating through Zapper, we ask communities to create brighter futures for young people in South Africa. We look forward to great things to come next year!

🎄 The Christmas Fair

We were delighted to support the Christmas Fair, a heartwarming, cashless community event that celebrates creativity, care, and connection during the festive season.
