Your Zapper app just got a big update Zapper Press ReleasesZapworthy October 15, 2026 We’ve refreshed the Zapper app with one simple goal: make everything easier to find. And then we’ve added a few extras. Whether you’re scanning to pay, checking a loyalty reward, or paying a bill, the new layout helps you get there faster. The design is cleaner, more organised, and built around the features our users enjoy most. Here’s what’s changed. A wallet that brings everything together The biggest change is the wallet. Instead of features being scattered across the app, the updated wallet brings everything together in one place. When you open the app, you can quickly see your uploaded membership and rewards cards, vouchers, activity, and more all on your home screen when you open the app. According to Zapper’s Head of Marketing, Monique Kroukamp, the refresh was largely driven by user feedback. “We decided to give the app a bit of a refresh after doing a survey to understand what consumers wanted and what would work for them. The app has been working really well for both merchants and consumers for a long time, but we realised we have so much added value in the app that people don’t always see straight away.” The redesign focuses on bringing that value straight to the home screen, rather than having users navigate through the app to find it. “We want the consumer to open the app and immediately see all the functionality,” adds Monique. All your cards, now on the home screen One of the most noticeable changes is how cards are displayed. Zapper has previously allowed users to digitise and store their loyalty, rewards, and membership cards in the app, but the new design makes them much easier to access. “One of my favourite features in the new app launch is that all your cards are now visible in one place,” says Monique. “You might have a gym membership card, a gift card someone gave you for your birthday, or a retailer loyalty card. Instead of carrying the physical card around, you can load it onto the app.” That means fewer moments where you realise you’ve left your wallet at home and need to turn back. “You might be at a retailer and realise you don’t have your wallet or your loyalty card with you, which means you lose out on those points. Now you just open the app, scan the card, and you still get your rewards.” Your rewards and loyalty progress are easier to track The updated Wallet also makes your loyalty programmes more visible. “You can see your loyalty cards, rewards, and how far along you are in a loyalty programme,” Monique explains. By bringing these features to the home screen, it’s easier to keep track of your rewards and loyalty progress when you’re out and about. It’s much more than a payment app While Zapper started as a simple way to scan and pay, it has grown into something much richer. “When Zapper started many years ago in KwaZulu-Natal, people mostly used it to make payments by scanning a QR code,” says Monique. “But today it’s so much more than that.” From paying bills and traffic fines to settling store accounts (Truworths, for example) and buying and sending digital vouchers, the app also has its own shop, offering products across every category sold by trusted, local merchants. You can also buy data, airtime and electricity in the app, giving you even more value in one place. You’ll tick things off your to-do list faster The refreshed design also highlights features that help you take care of everyday admin directly in the app. For example, you can pay bills without needing to set up separate banking beneficiaries. “You simply go into the bill section, and there’s a list of services you can pay for. You just make your payment through Zapper,” Monique explains. Another popular feature is the ability to renew your vehicle licence disc directly from the app. “We all have to renew our licence discs, but no one enjoys standing in queues,” she says. “With the app, you can start the process right there, complete the payment through Zapper, and have the disc delivered to your door.” You’ll find new ways to use Zapper With more than 30,000 merchants on the platform, the app can be used across restaurants, retail stores, online shops, parking locations, and more. “A lot of people think Zapper is just for restaurants,” Monique says. “But it’s actually much broader than that.” The redesign helps to highlight the many places Zapper can be used. The new app layout means fewer taps Ultimately, the refresh is about making the app easier to navigate, helping you move through it more naturally while keeping your payments, rewards, and loyalty programmes easy to manage. With a clearer layout and key features in one place, you won’t need to tap as many times to get to your favourite features. Try the new Zapper experience The refreshed app is rolling out now. If you’ve already downloaded the app, make sure it’s updated to the latest version on your Google Play Store, Apple App Store, or Huawei App Gallery. If you’ve never used Zapper before, now’s a great time to download the app and discover how it can make everyday life a little easier, right from the home screen. Share on Facebook Share on X
